Hi I am Mary Monalisa. I live in Ranchi with my husband Mario and our pet dog, Mabel. I graduated as a Fashion Designer from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). While working in the fashion industry, I slowly became interested in photography, styling sets, and graphical work. Gardening, trying out new recipes, and listening to crime podcasts are my ‘Roman Empire’!
It has been 1 year since I started working remotely as a Graphic Designer with Solid. Sometimes, I also take photographs of our artisans and their beautiful handcrafted products at The Paces Crafts in India. One of the most exciting projects with Solid was when we participated in the Bharat Tex Fair last year, in New Delhi, India. From creating flyers and catalogues to setting up the booth from the ground up with banners and standees, it was a whirlwind of sleepless nights. But when we finally stood at the booth, telling the stories of our artisans and the mission behind their work, it felt incredibly rewarding.
Weekly video calls with my teammates in Belgium HQ make working with Solid a bliss. I’m learning to take more initiative, live consciously, and be compassionate. They push me to try new things each time, which helps me polish my skills as a designer.
We live in a fast-paced world. Let’s slow down and be more aware. Sharing the stories of our artisans from India, Kenya, and Peru is so important, and I feel honoured to be a part of it.
If I could create something, it would be a sustainable, holistic community designed to foster social connections and empathy, along with wellness and healing for people dealing with physical and mental pain and trauma.
Love, Mona
