Our partner in Kenya

Hadithi Crafts, in partnership with Crafts by Solid, empowers over 2,000 women in Kenya's Kasigau region amidst challenges like poverty and environmental degradation. Through economic independence and a commitment to environmental conservation, Hadithi Crafts ensures fair income generation while protecting the fragile ecosystem of the Kasigau region.

  • Empowering Communities

Hadithi Crafts provides economic independence to over 2000 women from an agricultural community in the semi-arid Kasigau region. In an area where harvests often fail due to a lack of rain, Hadithi Crafts offers an alternative income source, combating poverty and promoting community development.

  • Environmental Conservation

Situated between the Tsavo East and West National Parks, the Kasigau region is home to varied and abundant wildlife. Hadithi Crafts plays a vital role in protecting this stunning yet vulnerable ecosystem by providing a sustainable alternative to environmentally harmful practices such as poaching and deforestation for charcoal, timber, and farmland.

  • Cultural Preservation

Hadithi, which means 'a story' in Swahili, as each product sold tells a unique story, highlighting the people behind it and their cultural heritage. By supporting Hadithi Crafts, you contribute to preserving these stories of Kenya.

Natural Dyes and Materials

Our products are dyed using ASO free dyes or pure natural dyes obtained from flowers and bark, employing old techniques that have been passed down through generations. The unique baskets are made from local sisal, ensuring a 100% handmade process from start to finish. Alternatively also indigenous palm leaves from Kajire (Sagalla Hill) are used to create baskets, known as "mkeka," showcasing the natural resources abundant in the region.

Versatile Product Range

Our product range includes traditional baskets, bags, modern accessories, and decor items. Whether you're looking for placemats, bottle holders, or stylish shoppers adorned with or without leather and / or Maasai beadwork, we have something for every need and occasion. Our baskets come in both normal and fine weaving styles, allowing you to choose the perfect design to suit your preferences.
