BEHIND THE SCENES - PRODUCING FOR NOSHO

One of our all time favorites in the picture: the Kantha jacket that we’ve produced in collaboration with one of our longtime partners NOSHO. A young and sustainable label, by women and for women.

The most beautiful products are made in rural India, providing a fair income for talented women who use their knowledge of traditional craftsmanship for the production of these items. Juttu is now offering these on their webshop, perfect for the upcoming spring season. These versatile designs are a perfect fit for both a casual and boho style or for adding a playful touch to a more formal look. At Crafts by Solid we focus on both people and planet in every item that we produce. We love collaborations with partners who feel the same.

Our WFTO-certified workshop is located in Jharkhand. A place where craftsmanship, sustainability and social impact come together. The mission of this workshop is to provide honest work for as much women as possible, making it possible to not only change their lives, but also the lives of their families and loved ones. This collaboration offers women the change for economical independency, earning a stable income and develop their skills in a fair and supporting environment. Each product manufactured here is meticulously crafted in an ethical and fair environment. With traditional techniques en upcycled materials, such as vintage saris, every item is truly one of a kind. Upcycling being a key word, reducing waste and adding an original take on these collections. With every NOSHO item you buy, you make a direct impact on the lives of these artisans.

HOW THESE JACKETS COME TO LIFE

  1. Sorting vintage saris based on color schemes. Preparing fabrics for each garment by adding a cotton filling to two layers of sari. Chalking lines for quilting patterns.

  2. Quilting by machine for the entire piece of fabric.

  3. Cutting excess layers.

  4. Cutting patterns.

  5. Each seamstress in the production line sews a full garment a to z.

  6. Ironing seams.

  7. Quality check based on measurements and finishing.

A labour of love that makes both NOSHO and Crafts by Solid very proud.

Transparency will always be important to us, so if you have any questions about our fair trade production do reach out. We love to connect and tell you all about the way we work!
